Is Go Karting Safe?
Go-karting is a very safe sport and incidents are very rare. You’re probably more at risk driving to the racing track than you are when you actually race and there are several reasons for this.
Firstly the cars themselves. Go karts are very stable due to their low center of gravity and are not prone to flipping although you may manage a spin or two if you try accelerating too fast while in a turn.
Everyone is driving in the same direction around the course and there is no mixing of kart types in any race. For instance you’re not going to have to worry about someone racing a faster, more powerful kart in the same race.
Then there’s the track itself. Barriers and safety nets are installed around the whole course to protect you and bystanders should you loose control of the go-kart. Marshall’s are also stationed around the circuit just to keep an eye on the drivers and make sure that they don’t get up to any dangerous antics.
Finally there are the personal safety measures that are in place. All riders are given and full safety induction prior to racing for the first time and helmets are mandatory.
In a controlled environment such as this go-karting is suitable and safe for the whole family.
