Bus from Bangkok Airport to Hua Hin
Travelling between Bangkok airport and Hua Hin suddenly became a lot more pleasant with a new bus service
There are several ways to travel between Bangkok airport and Hua Hin all of which have their benefits and drawbacks. Travelling by minibus is cheap and fast but not very comfortable and there is a distinct lack of baggage space. You can always hire a taxi which is convenient and fast but can be expensive.
Option three might be the best for anyone that doesn’t like the above two options. There is now a coach service between Bangkok Suvanabhumi airport and Hua Hin bus station.
If you are fed up of paying the high taxi prices and don’t want to traipse across Bangkok to get the minibus from Victory Monument then the new VIP bus service may be your best option for travelling between Bangkok airport and Hua Hin.
For just a little more than the cost of travelling by minibus you can now travel in comfort and style with plenty of space to take your luggage and golf bags plus the added bonus of there being a toilet onboard.
The Bus
The airport bus is a 22 seater configured in rows with two seats on one side and a single seat on the other. The seats are comfy and recline so that you can have a nap if you wish.
There is air conditioning on-board as well as a toilet in the back. You’ll be glad to note that unlike some of the holiday buses that you hear going through town this bus does not play ear splitting music on its journey.
This is a new service with most people reporting that the buses are fairly empty, but to be sure you may want to book your ticket ahead of time.
How Long Does it Take?
The travel time is advertised as three hours but in reality it will depend upon the time if day that you are travelling and the congestion around Bangkok at that time. Expect it to take at least 3-4 hours just to make sure.
The good news is that the service is punctual and the bus normally leaves on time.
Where are the Pickup and Drop Off points?
At the airport you can get the tickets from the service counter at level 1 gate 8 and catch the bus outside. Just head all the way downstairs when you come out of the arrivals hall.
In Hua Hin you’ll start or end your journey from Hua Hin Bus Station. This is located by Soi 96/1, just South of the Bangkok Hospital by the U-turn.
The Timetable
The bus leaves every two hours from 07:00 to 18:00 on the hour from Hua Hin to Bangkok airport and every two hours between 07:30 and 18:30 from Suvanabhumi airport to Hua Hin.
The journey is direct without any stops on the way.
What Does it Cost?
The price is 305 baht per person for the journey at the moment. There may be some extra charges for excess baggage so be sure to ask when booking your trip.
Where Can I Get Tickets From?
You can buy the tickets in advance either at the bus terminal in Hua Hin or online through the through the Bell Travel Service.
This is a busy service that tends to fill up quickly. It’s recommended to book online several days before you travel otherwise you may find that there isn’t a seat available.
Advantages
- If your flight arrival coincides with the bus schedule then this is an easy stress-free and low cost way to get to Hua Hin.
- It is a direct link without any stops.
- Safer, convenient and more comfortable than taking one of the minibuses.
Even if you don’t want to go to the airport you could use this bus service as a comfortable low cost way to get to Bangkok. Just travel to the airport and then get a taxi or take the airport link train back into town. You could even get another bus from the airport to go to Pattaya.
Downsides
- The bus only stops at the bus terminal in Hua Hin which means that you may have to get a taxi or tuk-tuk back into town or to your resort afterwards which is going to add to the cost.
- It is not the fastest way to get to the airport but the drivers are more sensible and go at a safer speed.
- If you have an early morning flight then this means of transport may not get you to the airport on time.
More Information
Hopefully the VIP bus will get enough customers to stay profitable and stay in business so why not give it a go. For more information check out the website at www.airporthuahinbus.com
When I landed at the airport, can I book the bus ticket to Huahin for the following day?
And return to the airport just for the bus?It is the flight time problem.
Thanks.

Hi Tony. That shouldn’t be an issue as I know several people that use this bus as a more comfortable way to transit from Hua Hin to Bangkok. One thing I should say is that the bus always seems to be very busy. I would advise you to book the ticket a few days before you travel. You can do this online if you like before you leave rather than at the airport.
